first day of kindergarten

Last Thursday was the first day of kindergarten for J!! He was very excited and had a great day. He loves his class and teacher, and already has a new friend. Today was the first homework assignment (an "s" worksheet and name practicing sheet), and tomorrow is the first day I drop him off at the front door and he has to find the gym and his class line all my himself!! Tomorrow also begins PTA meetings (which I will join) and curriculum night is in 2 weeks.

C had his official EI evaluations today and qualifies for speech and developmental therapies. B also started with his new speech therapist today. The meeting with the school district to discuss preschool integrated programs is in 2 weeks, and those evals will be in December. I have a feeling the time between now and then will just fly by....

the last days of summer

We have been cramming a lot into the last few days of summer before the school year starts in 2 days! Lots of mall shopping, backyard playing, neighborhood walks, and roasting marshmallows. It is sad to let the summer go, but the fall will be very exciting with our new schedule including kindergarten for J!! B has a new speech therapist, and C will also begin therapy after his official evaluations on Monday the 31st. I will have more weekends off and will spend 3 mornings a week at the YMCA in step and interval step classes. Wow - I am getting tired even thinking about all the changes, but definitely looking forward to it all.

last day of gym

Well, today was the last day of class at My Gym for B and C. J usually watches the class, then gets to play during the "free play" hour once class is over. Unfortunately B has a cold and had a difficult time sleeping last night, so he wasn't very excited about class. Also, I think C is getting the cold as well, because he spent a lot of time just laying on the floor. Oh well. There's always next summer!

So the next few days include work for me tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Chris will be taking the kids to a neighbors party tomorrow, and I hope to take J to "movie under the stars" at Barrington Park tomorrow night - if the weather holds up. The garage project is currently halted since we are waiting for a shipment of supplies at Menards. Cleaning, laundry, etc should finish off the weekend.

Day #2

Today was day #2 of our final full week of summer. J starts kindergarten next Thursday (the first day is with parents) and next Friday will be his first day alone. So we are trying to cram in as much as we can before school starts. B is therapy-free this week (we are currently in between SLPs), which means we are free every single morning to do whatever we want! Yesterday was a bunch of nothing - raining, stayed in and just played. Today we went to IKEA for breakfast and about 2 hours of play and shopping time. Tomorrow will likely be a trip to the mall and playing in the cool play areas, a double doozie, maybe a pretzel, and lunch in the food court. It is nice not being on a strict schedule this week and we are all enjoying the extra free-time.

last day of summer camp

Today was J's last day of summer camp. We had a cookout, ate at the forest preserve, took a bunch of pictures, and had fun just running around. J was so sad that camp was over - he had so much fun this past week. I guess that will have to be on our to-do list for next summer. And, C and B will be old enough to join in the fun also! I can't believe summer is almost over.....

Living without the internet

It is currently 9:21pm and I am at Panera using their wi-fi. While it is a nice change of pace to be out of the house at this time of night (on a Tuesday, no less), this would be so much easier and more comfortable if I was at home. Why am I here? Our internet modem has been broken for almost 2 full days! I had no idea how much I used the internet until I didn't have it. I actually made up a list of all the things I needed to check and update in my 1 hour of internet usage today. And I am running out of time. Of course this happens soon after I start blogging again! Wow, that law of attraction thing is always poking it's head into my life.
We had a great day - made and decorated a bunch of cupcakes. J is going to summer camp in the mornings and absolutely loves it!! Today he went on a nature hike, made a hat and bandana, and played a game in the water. Ah, summer....

Hot, hot, hot

We spent this morning playing in the pool in the backyard. It was really hot! The boys had their cool UV protecting swim shirts from Chasing Fireflies on and they looked so cute!! Lots of fun - now I am ready for a nap!

Lazy Saturday

This is great - it is Saturday, Chris is on call, but we are all home together. We even got to wake up together - which is a rare occasion in this house. Typically I am at work on the weekends, but luckily that will be changing and we should have one full weekend a month together. YEAH!!
Our only plans are a lunch playdate, then lots of relaxing (as much as we can with the 3 boys running around), maybe some errands, and I will try to finish my lampshade project. Oh, and did I mention the garage???

It all begins with the first post

Okay. So I have to admit, this is the 5th blog I have started. Typically, I will start a blog, do great for a couple of weeks, then lose interest and quit. Not this time. I love the idea of having a place to journal "the beautiful dailies" - that is, all the little things that take place on a daily basis that make life so special. It is also a great way to keep in touch with family members in other cities.
And so it begins...
